Sabrina and AM used to dance together way back in the day in like 2003 in the strip clubs in Los Angeles. There remains a bond that will last through the ages, as it already has. They talk about the old days and the new days, as Sabrina is working on getting her PsyD in psychology and is steeped in wanting to do more for the sex work community. She’s also a somatic sex educator and studying somatic experiencing. Like, wow! Talking about psychedelics as treatment in this work... so much kewl stuff to learn on this one!

Molly answered the question, “What do we not know about you from just scrolling on social media.  All kinds of interesting things came of that and created a layered conversation.  From discussing her recent loss, to inspiring her sister to also strip, to her past life that was very different from the one she has now, we learned so much from and about Molly in this convo.  The vibe of this interview is super chill and calm.  It’s a good one to listen to all cozied up inside.

These days, the younger generation is super dialed in and a lot more mature it seems.  Jozey is a wise soul, someone who seems as if they’ve been around for a while, but with a young spirit.  Jozey and AM work together with Soldiers of Pole, have raged at BabeTown Fest together and fights the good fight for sex workers on the daily.  Jozey brings so much light to the conversation and is amazingly insightful.  She’s a baby stripper, but one with tall goals, big dreams and a heart that could fill the moon.

This is a special episode and was more of a research and discuss episode with Crimson Minx, a stripper ally.  Crimson has been working with AM on discovering the untold history of stripping and how it correlates to the pole dancing we practice today, starting in the 1920’s.  They debunk some myths and set the record straight, all the way up to the early 2000’s.  However, there are holes in this story.  That’s because a lot of stripper history doesn’t exist or only exists within the walls of obscure circus museums.  We are looking for any tidbits that listeners might have for us.  Do you have historical information on strippers that pole danced?  Email us at yesastripperpodcast@gmail.com.

Glen, the creator of the @gutterpuke account, is a sex worker making sex worker art.  His outlook on life and sexuality is complex and interesting.  AM had a lot to learn talking about the nuances of gender and language surrounding it, and surely you will learn more too. Through a life of transformation, Glen has also helped his family be more accepting of the LGBTQ community, after spending years within a cult.

On this episode, AMD brings back Nova Caine for a second episode.  Nova was on the show several months ago, but since then, so much has changed.  These two friends have been having a long distance friendship, having connected officially in the summer of 2019.  Since Covid, they can’t see each other but have been advocating and activating together, going through the ups and downs of the industry shifting at a rapid rate.

Kinky and AM met on an online strip show, which are a-plenty these days, thankfully.  This guest talks about how her performance work has had to change since Covid, what lobster culture in Maine is like and gives us all a mini lesson on Polyamory and Unicorn Hunters.  They discuss what it’s like working online, how the transition has been and how to keep a clean credit score.  Get some good laughs with this one.

Onyx Sachi has been putting herself and her livelihood on the line to speak up about the injustices of the strip club industry in Canada. Something that is of difference with the Canadian strip clubs is that there is an agency between the dancers and the clubs. What’s not surprising though is the agencies are exploiting the dancers. They are profiting off of strippers work in a way that’s even more egregious that the strip club owners in the US. Because she asked questions and started talking about it publicly, she’s been fired and blacklisted. It takes real guts these days to stand up and say something, and this courageous woman is an example of doing the right thing, even if it means losing parts of life that you love.

Ava Hennessy has every job under the sun.  Then she found stripping.  While admittedly, there are issues within the stripping industry, many sex workers, like Ava, have found it to be just right for them.  Originally from Ireland but currently residing in the UK, the conversation also led into talking about the differences and similarities of strip clubs overseas versus the US.  AM and Ava have crossed paths several times over the last month and finally had a chance to have a conversation with each other one on one.  Ava is incredibly moving to listen to and the sound of her voice is soothing.  She openly talked about her life and how she has developed into the incredible person she is now.  This is a lovely episode and speaks to the heart of this podcast “Strippers being amazing and doing amazing things.”
